Her lifelong learning includes working her way through college, earning a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, East Bay, and serving more than 18 years as a marketing strategist, project manager, training facilitator, and coach to educational institutions and nonprofit leaders.
Cathy Barragan has 11+ years of experience developing and executing strategic marketing plans for non-profit organizations. She has successfully led rebranding efforts for organizations, including the Oakland Schools Foundation (now the Oakland Public Education Fund) and the Children's Creativity Museum (formerly Zeum).
Her commitment to community, education, and the arts has taken her abroad where she has helped to develop artists' residences in Mammola, Italy, and provided direct support in the classroom of an orphanage in Morelia, Mexico.
Cathy has garnered press coverage in the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, The Today Show and Wired Magazine. She is a 2012 Webby Award honoree for her work as the Marketing Director of creativity.org.
dana e. fitchett has worked in schools and in education- and social justice-focused not-for-profits for the past 12 years with roles ranging from direct classroom work and family organizing to event management and marketing and communications. Also a multidisciplinary artist, dana writes, makes visual art, teaches movement classes, and directs a small group of Black woman dancers based in the Bay Area. She holds an AB in Urban Studies with concentrations in Sociology and Black Studies from Vassar College, and a Masters in Fine Art in Interdisciplinary Art, exploring identity reconciliation and decolonization through creative expression.
A gifted musician and tenure of IT Software Development Project Management, Fern's life work is to bridge the gap between business, art, and community. Her vision has been realized through successful partnership, board service, and other initiatives including production of Black Vines - A Toast to Black Wineries and Diverse Art.
Fern earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and completed a software development internship at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Palo Alto, California. She managed Big Data related efforts in Silicon Valley and serves as Project Management Advisor for PJS Consultnats.
