Workshop: Leveraging Your 990: Communicating Compliance and Stewardship (Dream Keeper)
Nonprofits communicate to potential funders beyond our tailored grant applications. There are more and more public-facing tools that are easily accessed by funders and donors alike. The Form 990 is one item that is submitted annually to the IRS by tax-exempt organizations.
This workshop will dissect the 990 and review core sections that tell part of your organization’s story. The 990 helps others to make deductions on important funding aspects such as: financial stability; reasonableness of expenses (i.e. ratios of salaries, operations, etc…); possible conflicts of interest; and governance compliance, etc.
Participants will leave with an understanding of what the 990 entails and how their organization may be viewed by others. This knowledge can assist with annual planning and strategy development.
