Grant Writing For Communications - Part 1 Internal Communications Planning with Marthea Alley-Caliz
Ask and you shall receive! Grant writing is a common fund development tactic used to support and grow programs. However, service organizations often fall short in requesting specific communications funds in grant applications. Savvy organizations, like yours, learn the art of embedding elements of communications capacity-building into their program and outreach proposals. The combination of good planning and strategic writing can lead to an increase in staff, systems, training and resources to effectively market your services to your target audiences.
Enhance your communications capacity! Communications funding can be used to support both external outreach as well as internal infrastructure. Such funding can be used to:
hire staff and consultants with diverse skill sets;
design and implement outreach to targeted communities;
establish and enhance communication systems including: websites, contact databases, meeting and service technology, and social media tools
Update your techniques! In this workshop we will review core elements of a grant and explore how to weave communications, marketing and outreach support into your plan and budget, then into your enhanced proposal.
